How to disable safety lock?

Not the lock for the open blade. The little sliding lock that keeps it shut. I was thinking of putting a drop of epoxy in the slot. The other day the knife locked and I couldn't open on demand. Luckily not life threatening need, but lock has to go.

Go ahead, slather that thing in epoxy or wedge something in there.
No need to post a pic of the knife or even mention make and model.
On a more serious note; most often locks on blades are there for a reason.

I have a 580 Barrage that has to be a hundred years old, it's so beat up, and I can't possibly see how the sliding safety lock can engage by mistake. I mean, I literally have to press down and push with a fair amount of force to get the damn thing to move and by mistake? Nah, not gonna happen.

I know the blade comes out fast and hard enough that I wouldn't want it accidentally opening in my pocket and skewering my leg or possibly much worse. However, if it bothers you, just take the knife apart and remove the lock, easy-peasy. There's tons of you-tubes to show you how.

If the lock is on the back, as it is on the 581, it is easy to remove the safety and the assist spring. It looks fine after removal and the knife will work fine as a manual. Some people will have a problem disassembling and reassembling the axis lock mechanism, and that is needed to get to the assist spring. The Omega springs require some care to ensure they remain undamaged and stay in place during assembly.
