How to disassemble a Schrade slipjoint

I have this modern Schrade Hawkbill and I have a issue with it. Due to a medical condition I have to grasp the blade between my index and middle finger to open the blade. Now depending on how strong the spring is my hand will slip off the blade when the spring comes down when the blade is at 90 degrees. So I think I could remedy this sudden stop by rounding of the steel around the pivot point. I bought this cheap Schrade specifically to do this. What are your thoughts???

The corner that you want to take off the tang helps secure the blade in the open position! Do it carefully!!

Could you maybe instead grind a notch in the front of the blade similar to what you see on a “one arm” Barlow? You could then hook the blade on the corner of something to open it. Or maybe someone knows of a hawkbill knife with a light pull and no half stop. Or maybe get an Opinel pruning knife?

I'll second the Opinel suggestion and add a MAM friction folder sheepsfoot like this to the options.
No springs or unnecessary/un-needed blade lock.View attachment 1689209
Would a Svord Peasant work for you? No springs, and has a finger on the tang like a Case Russ Lock to open the blade and to help hold the blade open.
I don't have a Svord for a picture.

Note that MAM makes an almost identical friction older with a old fashioned push tab release liner lock. I'd suggest avoiding that one since your thumb lacks strength at this time.

I have a Svord and Opinel. But I love bolsters with stag look. I suppose I could make my own handles for the svord.
