How to do a passaround?

My first and only Busse, a Badger has been sitting around since it arrived a couple months ago. Haven't gotten the opportunity to take it out yet. I am also waiting on a sheath from armoralleather (due maybe in October), which is another reason I have not had it out. So, I thought bout maybe passing it around since it's sole purpose is to be used.

I know there is a passaround thread in the general section, but have not participated in one. Should I start there by contacting someone that will organize the passaround, or should I contact someone here (Busse Combat thread) and pass it amoungst ourselves?

My only request would be to have it back to me before deer season rolls around in November, and that it be sharp!

Any suggestions?

Contact every member prior to having the current possessor shipping it. This will save you a hassle if the next in line is unable to contact you to inform you that they are going out of town. This is from experience.

Hi :)

I believe that usually it is on you to organize your own passaround. I participated in Mulder's SH badger passaround and it seems that he has a pretty good system, maybe reach out to him for advice? If you want it back by Nov. I'd limit the number of participants to 10-12, maybe 14 and figure on averaging a week to 10 days for each to use for a couple of days and the time it takes to get to the next participant. People are busy, and the occasional delay must surely happen, I'd guess. I think that I'd try to set it up so that all get one full weekend as part of their time. Mulder is very good with the 'passaround' contact & communication, and it helps to keep the knife from being delayed too long at any one participant's place. May I also suggest that you have the last participant ship the knife to either Busse, or your preferred place for re-sharpening and any other repair that might be needed? That way, you get it back with a new sharp edge, ready for the season. :D
