How to Do a Trade?

I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I've got no idea where to post this.

What is the proper steps of a Trade? Do we just both ship the knives tobeach other. I don't see any other way to do this and I don't have a problem with it but I wasn't sure if there was some unspoken code. I figured I would ask the BladeForums Community in the Community Center for help!

I am by no means an expert, nor am I telling you what to do. What you do is up to you but -

the FIRST thing you should do is check the reputation of the person you are [potentially] trading with. Look in the "good bad ugly" forum and see if they are and how they are listed. Look for their username and compare emails to 'known problem people.'

Second, how you go about the trade is between the two trading the items. If you settle on a "plan" then do exactly what that plan detailed.

Whatever you do if it's "an item for an item" then you should ship it INSURED and with a tracking number. I'd even suggest "delivery confirmation with signature" so there's a record it's been delivered [or picked up].

If you are buying an item and use PayPal, D O N O T USE THE GIFT OPTION. Pay the fee for peace of mind.

Feedback is generally a good indication, if your new they may ask you to send first. There is always a bit of risk involved so just play it smart, and follow your gut.
