Hello,

any tips on how I can remove evenly 0.01" from thickness of a steel plate that is 1" wide and 2" long?

The initial thickness of the plate is 0.1"

thanks

You don't say how precise this .010" must be removed. If it must be VERY precise, then as Rusty says, Surface grinder is by far the best way. If you don't have access to a surface grinder, and it doesn't have to be precise to the 1/2 thou, then perhaps you could use a flat platen on your grinder by holding the 1"X2" metal with magnet to grind, carefully checking thickness several times while grinding.

"IF" you have a milling machine and a good magnetic chuck you could take .010" off using a fly cutter and get it very close.
