I know the Becker Machax warrior was made by Mr. Becker "in his garage" a long time ago back when it was still Becker knife and tool and possibly Blackjack making the blades. If I am correct he said that only around 50 were made. Since Kabar has been lame so far and not made the Brute, I assume that it will never make the Warrior.

So here's an idea:

Has anyone ever tried to grind down/restructure a regular Machax (any era) into something resembling a Warrior? I lack both the skill and the funds to do so (no tools, no experience… so sad), so could I get any input from fellow Becker lovers and/or smiths as to if this is possible. Here's a picture (all credit to Bladite) of the two side by side.

I'd never even heard of this thing til now but man I really want one.
 
the curve sweep is a bit thinner too, but overall, otherwise the same
 
I just want a regular machax! Its on the top of my list! Sadly, Santa doesnt have the funds for one this year :(

Sure, your just putting an extra big swedge on the 'chax. You could thin out the belly a little to if you wanted as well like on the original warrior.

Practically though, I don't see or really get the warrior BK-4, the handle looks to awkwardly curved to stab with.

Maybe, but it looked like an interesting design to me and I wanted to try it out. There was a forum a while ago about the machax as a "combat kukri" and the usefulness of it's ergonomics, and apparently it would work ok in that respect. I just want one because it looks like a fun tool.
 
it stabs plenty well, no slippage with all that zombie blood ;)
 
Looks like an easy mod. Would take maybe an afternoon, going slow to not ruin the heat treat. I don't have a machax or plans to buy another one, but I'd be happy to help anyone who wants theirs modded.

If you would be willing to do that I would be eternally grateful. Do you mean tips/a walk through, or doing the work yourself (either would be great)?
 
Sadly... I am very interested in this as well... Might have to return a few xmas gifts i have for the wife in order to buy another bk4 and see if i can modify it or maybe send it out for modification

Awkward… I'm not a paying member, so I believe that I can't send personal messages.

However, if I find that knife forums continues to be a great as it has been, I will purchase a paying membership (~1-2 months?). Hopefully then I'll be able to contribute more and mod some knives :D

Ok. I'll get basic once I get 50 posts (nothing to do with the awesome cancer awareness GAW of course :D ). However, I have a confession to make: I don't actually have a machax yet. I intended it to be my first Becker, as I have heard of their amazing qualities. However, I got a surprise knife as a gift for a special occasion. Since I just got a new knife I have to wait until after Christmas to get anything else. However, I hope to have a machax soon and hopefully mod it in January of February after testing it out and convexing it. I'll still send you a visitor message, though.

Ah, aha. Machax isn't my favorite one, so I no longer have one myself, but the warrior version looks pretty cool. Kinda reminiscent of my HI Ultimate Fighter, but smaller and lighter.
