how to finish this boot knife?

hello BF folks

I bought a couple boxes of knife making supplies at an estate sale. Found some unfinished knife blanks and a bunch of other stuff, including what looks like an unfinished boot knife kit pictured below. Seems that it just needs handles, but since I have never done one of these and there are no instructions, I thought I would turn to all of you experts for any advice you have on how I might finish this project that someone else started. Selecting a handle material and then shaping it to fit seem like the biggest challenges.

Thanks for any input you can offer.

Put good slab handles on it and put two rivets through the holes.

Texas Knife Maker's Supply and Jantz Knife Makers Supply both carry a wide assortment of pre-cut slabs sized for knife handles. Various woods, micartas, ivories, etc, in matched pairs. They also sell cutler's rivets, Corby bolts, finishing liquids, polishing and sanding materials... i.e. EVERYTHING you could ever ask for when finishing a kit knife, including pre-made sheaths, leather to make your own, and kydex if you don't care about the looks. (Flame suit = On :) )
