So we have all heard that the ESEE micarta will fit on the BK14 & BK24 knives with a little fitting. But I have never seen what you actually have to do. So I took some pictures while fitting mine.

I am not real happy with how they fit the Becker. There is a big gap at the bottom that I dont like. I am still trying them out, trying to decide if I will keep them on my 24 or not. I do really like the color and texture of this micarta. The nicely recessed hardware is great too.

Its a very simple process. The only thing you need besides the Allen wrench is a piece of sandpaper. I used 320 grit.

So you want to sand this plastic piece down until it goes all the way in but fits nice and tight.

It will look like this.

Fantastic! Easy enough of a quick touch up that anyone can do it with some sand paper and a garbage can, House, condo, apartment, you name it...

Thanks for this, I was curious what held the slabs centered.

Yea, I like these scales for my 24. When I installed them though I had a bit of difficulty actually tightening the screws. It seemed that the screws weren't quite long enough or the scales were just a fraction too thick for the screws to actually catch inside the channel. I had to really wrench down on the screws/scales and they finally tightened up. When that happened, I don't think I can ever take them off now. Lol no worries.

Very nice! I might have to think about doing something like that.

I just noticed something about both 24s pictured in the thread (mine and B Mauser's), the logos are switched. When my 24 is pointed to the left, the BK&T logo is up, however, on Mauser's when his knife is pointed to the left the ESSE logo is up. I'm wondering if KA-BAR switched sides at some point.

I've always thought they look nice but never thought they'd feel good enough in hand. If Sh@rp was still around I'd say get some of his. Best I've ever had.

You're welcome. I've been curious too. I agree anyone can do this mod.

Hopefully this will help someone thinking about giving this a try.

I dont think they are quite as comfortable to use as the KaBar zytel. I sure think they look great though. I am going to give these a try for a while and see if I can get used to them.

Yeah I only had a few Beckers when Sh@rp was selling his handles. I had a BK14 but decided I would rather spend the money on more Beckers. Sure regret that decision now. :D

Wow, that is strange. I never noticed that before. On first inspection of my 24 I noticed the markings were on the opposite side from the stamped BK14's. Weird to see that they were the same on some 24's. I wonder what would make them do that? We used to be able to ask Tooj about stuff like this. I sure miss that.

They may be fakes...send them to me immediately for inspection. Real ones will be returned, fakes will be disposed of...

Boxing up all my Becker's right now. I decided I better be safe and send them all. Sure appreciate you doing this for me. I owe you big time. :D
