Another out there question. How would I fit scales to a blade that I have either Cerokoted,Parkerized,Molly coated, or oxide finished. I do all of the above finishes on firearms but was wondering how I could use them on my blades. And how I would sand and fit scales to a coated blade. ???? Any cheats or Ideas. One of my Smithing customers wants His blade to match his EDC. pistol.
Thanks Jerry

Very carefully.
Temporarily affix the handle(s) to the blade, mark them, remove and finish down to the line. Put them back on mark any areas that need filing/sanding. Keep doing this until the handles fit.

if the blade is unfinished, fit the handles normally, remove and then finish the blade. Reapply handles.

I don't glue cerakoted blades. Screw only. 3 pieces. Stainless or Ti. Easier to build. No damage to the coating. Most people like it.

As for shaping the scales, do it before the coating is applied. Attach with removable screws for the final assembly. Use epoxy if desired, but there is no reason if the blade is coated.
