Recommendation? How to fix “detent rock” or sloppy detent?

I used a tapered diamond bit to make my detent hole bigger so I would be closed where I wanted it to and I went a little too much and there’s play in the closed position. Is there anything I can do about this or should I just use this as a learning experience for my first liner lock.

Why didn’t you drill the detent hole with the correct drill bit in the first place? If your gonna build an inset lock model I’d build one and drill right through the scales and all the way through the blade and have that be the “master”. Then actually drill the inset lockbar for detent through the blade in closed position. Would always be in the perfect position for that knife.
 
Would you use the same sized bit for the ball? #53? I guess if it comes down to it I can always redo the lock bar and just make my mark through the hole in the blade I hadn’t thought of that thanks!

Yep. Should make sure ball is centered in hole
