Got this today for 10 bucks with the wall hanging hardware from a little Pawn shop

I know how to sharpen a axe but never had to repair a really bad corner like this

Should i just fix the edge and leave it alone ? If I wanted to fix it why do I do? I feel like I would have to grind all of it down to where that broken corner is and the Lose 1/4 inch of axe lol?

That hatchet has several chips. If you have a vise, put it in with the edge toward you and start filing matching the angle. That chip up at the top (toe) I would just file it until it looked ok. Maybe just starting to look like an edge, with this first sharpening. Then over time as you
sharpened it each time work it a little more. Until you could blend it in with the edge. Others here may have a better idea. DM

It's up to you what you want the shape of the bit to be. And it depends how much work you want to do. For most work sharpening it as it is will suffice. OTOH, many time I have ground away more axe than that to get an edge into the shape I want.

If this $10 axe will be the only axe you ever own then just sharpen it as is. If you want it to be the best axe it can be theen you have some file work or grinding ahead of you. And there's a myriad of options in between.

I have a lot of axes and I find I won't use one that isn't in great shape. Instead I'll grab a better one.

I had that on a fiskars 28" that was used to demo a barn that had collapsed, AKA, it hit a ton of metal pieces during the cleanup. I just rounded the edge so the everything was sharp and it cuts just fine still. Or just sharpen everything else like normal and eventually you'll get back far enough to where the toe is part of the leading edge again.

A coarse and fine stone or a file would make short work of that, it's not very bad at all. That's a nice tool and a great buy at $10.

I believe that is a demolition axe.The blade is removable ( and replacable). Once out you should easily be able to regrind the edge. Put a steeper edge on it, as the one there now is too acute.
