I just recently received a ZT 0560 for Christmas. after a while of playing with it, it has a really sticky lock. I know there is carbodizing, but what else can I do?

thanks, nufdes

If you are handy, Take it apart and put some sharpie on the lockbar (The area that contacts the tang) let it dry and repeat a couple times. Put your knife back together and flip it a bit. You shouldn't have a sticky lock anymore after that.

It's much easier to put the sharpie on the tang of the knife instead of the lock bar.

Mine was the same. Sometimes very hard to unlock. I worked flipping it a bunch. Seems to be a little better. Not as great as expected for a knife of this price.
Aside from that I really like the knife.
But will think twice about buying a zt again.

Don't let a sticky lock deter you from a company. It's an extremely easy thing to fix.

Sticky lock is common with almost all Ti framelocks

Not necessarily true. I've owned/own two BM 775's , a spyderco Chokwe, a ZT 0561 and a Spyderco techo and the only one that had any stick was the 0561 and it was quickly resolved with the Sharpie trick.

would pencil lead also work?

I prefer pencil over sharpie because it's less noticeable. Sharpie doesn't last much longer anyway.

yes pencil will work but like was said above, you will haft to reapply it more often, both work though, If your still having problems send it in they will fix you up, I gave up on the 561 a long time ago, (for other reasons) but zts customer service is some of the best if not the best in the business if you need them.

I did something crazy with my 755 MPR with same problem: I put a drop of Nano oil in the area. Let it dry and never had the problem again. Of course, who knows what new problems that will create down the road, but no sticking now.

I did that with an emerson by accident one time i took it apart to clean and some oil got either on the lock face or the blade tang, result lock fail, luckily my fingers were free and clear of the blade.Be very careful adding oil to your lock or blade tang it can cause lock failures, I've read several threads warning against that, because of the risk of lock failure.
