On my new vic rucksak, I tryed to baton. Now I think the backspring is bent, because now the blade doesnt close all the way, stops just before being all the way closed. I can push it all the way down, but it pops back up when i let it go, so I thing its the spring. any way I can fix the spring? I dont wanna have to send it to vic. need answers asap

Why would you ever try and baton that knife? You most likely did some pretty major damage and will need to send it back.

OT - Would(should) Victorinox even cover that under warranty?

It has been said that you can baton the blade of a locking folder, but that the handle should not be locked when so doing. Personally, I would never baton a folder unless I had no alternative.

I doubt that Victorinox would consider this usage a warranty issue that they need to cover.

I know of no way to fix the spring yourself.

You could send it to Victorinox, I don't know if they'll replace it, you may have to pay to get it replaced with a new back spring.

I have done light batoning with a SAK for kindling, it's not going to hold up for anything else bigger.

you are probably outta luck on it, if you banged it up enought to bend the backspring then i doubt you'd be able to straighten it back out, you might be able to replace it but slipjoints arent the easiest beasts to work on i'm sure.
send it to back or buy a new one and has been said respectfully in this thread. Why on earth would you baton with a slipjoint and dont do that again:)
best of luck

Well this was my first sak, and since I always carry something like a zt 0300 camping, I wasnt used to using slip joints, cept for edc sometime. Now I know the limits of a sak.

That should read, "Now I know the limits of a FOLDING KNIFE."

I mean no disrespect, but your post is kind of funny. I recall my first knife was a Buck 110 for around $20 back in the 80's. I was prying off Sago palm "pups" off of a mother plant and broke the blade clean off in a snap. I looked at it in horror, but realized I was using the knife as a pry bar. You chose to use your knife as a hatchet. You should chock it up as a learning expense. You should buy yourself another knife and a hatchet. Tools have specific uses. Your honesty is very admirable.
