How to force a patina on a trail hawk?

Hi its ghost again, Im still pretty new at modding and was wondering if anyone new how to force a patina on the head of a trail hawk with vinegar, Iv googled it and didnt find any results for vinegar.

You put the vinegar on the hawk or the hawk in the vinegar

I've have soaked the head in vinegar for a couple hours.

after I applied my patina there is a layer a rust on the hawk head should this be sanded off?

If you sand off the rust, you will also sand off the patina. Wipe it off with a clean cloth rag.
