My cage on my Manix snapped last night abruptly and emailed Spyderco asking if they could please semnd me a new cage because I did not want to send my knife because it is an easy fix and would be a waste if tome, they responded with " It’s not a part that we generally ship as it’s a difficult part to replace without breaking and any damage will void the warranty so it’s best to send it in."

I really do not want to ship my knife, do i have no other option?

Just ship it in.
How do you know it's an easy fix?
I know it is because I've taken mine apart for scale replacement and had no issues so I've voided my warranty but I'm ok with that....

You belong to a knife forum, which means you have more than one knife.

You live in the US, which means that you will definitely get your knife back.

We all appreciate you sharing the experience in your previous post (no sarcasm), but Spyderco is attempting to fix the issue for you, and it's not too much to ask that it be done on their terms.

Things do not generally just spontaneously break. If they send you a new part, you install it yourself (thus voiding the warranty) and the new part also breaks, then where are you? If you send your knife in, they (the people who built it) can examine it, perhaps determine WHY the part broke, and correct the underlying cause, which I seriously doubt was the stress of cutting celery.

If you are so dead-set against shipping your knife, you still have options.

1) Leave it broken and live with it.

2) Buy a new one and retire the old one.

3) Machine a new part out of titanium or other metal and install it yourself.

Personally, I'd send it in just so they can examine it.
