I am new to reworking edges and have heard that the tom brown tracker has a horrible edge geomtry My question is how do you rework the egde for better performance thanks

First you have to determine for yourself what "horrible blade geometry" means. Perhaps it's a perfectly satisfactory edge for what Tom Brown needs it for. If you want it thinner, for example, then simply resharpen it at a more acute angle.

Depending on how much thinner, you may want to use diamond stones to reprofile the edge, but this has the drawback that you could overdo the job. Be sure you know how to use your sharpening equipmnent by practicing on a cheaper knife.

Optimally you have someone with power tools give the knife a full primary grind and minimize the edge thickness and remove any binding issues with the flats. If this isn't an option then just add a relief grind to the edge. If all you have is a benchstone then you just hone at a low angle, 10-15 degrees per side to remove most of the material above the edge and then sharpen the very edge at 15-20 degrees per side. The upper limits of those ranges are very robust and intended for metals and bone, the lower limits are for heavy wood chopping.

If you want it thinner, for example, then simply resharpen it at a more acute angle.

If you reduce the edge angle the edge will get thicker. If you want the edge to be thinner you have to reshape the primary grind.
