I'm looking for idea's here, how to hold slipjoint blades on the grinder.
What do you use?

This is what I used on my last three blades. The idea being that a large movement of the wrist causes a small tilt of the blade, giving good control.
I've ground the last ones free hand, no jigs, no table, but I'm not set on that, I'm still finding my way.
(This is a small blade ~2" cutting edge)

Make two at a time, one on each end of a piece of bar stock.

I use a CreativeMan file guide on my folder blades. Gives just enough material to hold onto and still have decent control.

This is the same problem I was facing when I developed my small Magchuck. I like to hold onto it to freehand grind. Though it is a little more bulky than what you’ve got.

Better picture.

take a 3/8 -1/2 thick piece of aluminum flat bar. drill the pivot hole in it "on the end " and scratch the tang shape into the aluminum.
mill the tang area a bit so the blade is held by the tang and pivot..
now you have a rectangle shaped handle to hold while you free hand grind the blade..

I've only made one folder, and it was a liner lock, but I did all the grinding on the blade after I had the handle more or less functional so I could just use that.
