Good evening gentlemen;
i saw spyderco sharpmaker rods at fairly good price at my knife shop and thought i can use them without buying the sharpmaker.But how?:D making a wooden base and drilling holes seems not gonna work cus of triangular stones.
cutting a straight line top of a wood block and placing one of the corners of the stone there and use it as a flat stone looks fine but wanna hear other advices as well.
So would your recommend any tips to use sharpmaker rods without the base or homemade one.

Dont say just buy a goddamn bencstone cus cant find any good at my country and sharpmaker is 100 $ which is B.S:D

If you drill a round hole the diameter of the outside corners of the triangle rods it should still work. I measured mine and it looks like a 1/2 inch hole is all you need. The thicker base material you use will give the rods more support.

I agree with Helishot, just drill and file to fit rods!!! thinking of doing the same thing. Go for it!!!

Respect man.... thanks alot guys im gonna get the rods tomorrow and start playing with wood blocks and drill:D any advice for measuring drill angle or should i just go old school with holding the drill at right angle with protractor.
Thanks again but its pretty lame that i couldnt think that :D
