Hey Guys, I've been reading everything i can find about the Schrade D'Holder, but still don't feel good that i could identify one. I have a chance to purchase one for about half of the normal bay price. I was wondering what things to look for to determine authenticity.

If you post a photo some one here will be able to answer any question you may have. This D'holder was made in 2000.

All knives should be numbered; however, I have seen some without numbers.
They should also come with a basket-weave Pouch #7220637. I have also seen them offered with the wrong Pouch.
The first 500 had a blade etch. "First Production Run 1 of 500"
They came in a white box, and supplied with a black zip-up nylon bag, and paperwork.
The front four knives are D'holders.

No help on what to looks for, but I just looked them up on the bay, and WOW! You're not kidding.
Let us know how it goes, and if you do buy it, post photos of it here? :)

Thanks kogold. i'm going to ask the seller for a photo of the spine and serial number. I'm pretty good at spotting the older stuff, after countless hours reading old posts here, but I am not comfortable dropping hundreds on something i'm not sure of.

I think before you pay HALF PRICE for a knife - you should know what it is worth... Ken.

... and also decide what you will use it for... an authentic example of a finished production piece, or a user finished after the closing to make it a useful knife.

Looking for an authentic example for my collection. Still don't feel good about the one i am looking at. Will all of the USA make ones have a serial number on the spine?

This is one of the "NEW" D'holders now selling on eBay for $32, and yes they are being made in China.
