• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Been searching but nothing is coming up. Is there a place you can send a sample and have it identified? I got a couple 7ft sticks of 1 3/4" round bar from a guy off craigslist. Figured they were just mild. I cut a couple "coins" off one and heated and quenched and they snapped in the vise when i hit them with a hammer. I have just some cheap hardness test files and looks like its about 45 hardness after water quench. The unquenched one didnt break. So now I am wondering what it is or if it is worth having it tested. I dont know what that costs normally.

Peter's Heat Treat it is then. I'll call them on Monday.. guessing they arent open on the weekends.
