hello,
I mixed the triangle spyderco stones fine and ultrafine for the sharpmaker, I can not understand what is the fine and what is the ultrafine . the colored markings are long gone . there is a way to distinguish the stones ? I seem to feel the same on touch...
Sorry for my poor "english".

Thanks

If they are clean, you can probably tell the difference by dragging a finger nail across them. I can, but your results may vary.

I just pulled mine out to see, they're hard to tell the difference by sight only but I was able to notice a difference while sliding my index finger down them. The UF rods allow the finger to glide easier down them, it is a slight difference but definitely noticeable.

Once you determine the difference mark the top of them with something. Mine came marked with red on the top.

Mine also came with red markings on one end. I can definitely tell the difference in mine however.

Grab one of the brass rods that came with the kit and lightly run the end down the channel of the ceramic. You'll hear a distinct difference.

I can sure tell mine apart easily by sharpening one of the really hard steels like ZDP-189 or XHP. Because I can feel a lot more bite from a fine stone. I also had trouble with the original factory color on the ends. But I found 3 bottles of nail polish which was dark red and bright red. I just paint both my ends of my UF stones with one of the nail polishes that I just mentioned and it holds up pretty well for the most part.

But if you take a premium folder and it doesn't necessarily have to be a Spyder but if you have a fixed blade or folder with premium steel in it you can tell easily on a clean stone. My fine and UF are easy to tell apart by just looking at them but I sharpen stuff a lot more than most folks do.
