How to Increase retention in factory sheath for Tops Baghdad Boxcutter?

Hi,

I own a Tops Baghdad Boxcutter that I configured the factory sheath clip to carry horizontal at the 11 o'clock position as a belt knife.

The sheath retention isn't the most confidence inspiring. How would I be able to increase retention for a more positive feel?

I have access to most any tool.

Warm the kydex up until it softens, and re-wrap it around the knife. Once the kydex cools, test the retention.

If you still don't like it, you should be able to heat the kydex up and re-shape it, as many times as you want.

The amount of heat it takes to form kydex will not affect the heat-treat of the knife, but you may want to wait an hour between re-heats, just to be certain.

Not only that, but the knife is going to get uncomfortably hot.

Hope that helps.

I would put the knife in the sheath, then heat the sheath with a heat gun on low at a point just below the U in "USA" on the left side. Using gloves, press in on that point to grip the knife more positively. If that isn't enough, do the same spot on the right side.
