How to increase the detent on a Manix 2?

Hey all! I finally got my grubby hands on a FFG manix 2 sprint (in CTS-BD30P) and I'm loving it! In my humble opinion, this knife is even better than my para 2. Time will have to tell though ;)

But the one thing this knife is FAR in-superior in is the action/detent. I feel like a lot of axis-type locking mechanisms inherently just have weak detents. With Benchmades it's no biggie because of the thumb studs, but with a Spydie hole I feel it makes more of a difference. It's not a huge worry about it coming open in my pocket, but it would be nice to make the deployment a bit faster and more reliable.

Is there some way to fix this? Improve this?

I'd be happy to hear your opinions, oh wise knife nuts!

Carefully remove and extend the spring about 1/2 mm. I did this on my XL and now it snaps shut. Just take your time and make sure each coil is bent evenly. Grab the last few coils on each end with fingers and pull. VERY LITTLE . If you do too much the spring will pinch against the frame when you use and result in a click every time you unlock it.

If you feel comfortable anyway. That is the only way to make it snap shut.

I'm not sure I understand. I have a Manix2 LW and an S90V Manix2 XL. I can easily flick them both open. Are you saying they are too easy to open?

I think your worring about nothing. I have had mine for 3yrs and it never popped open
in the pocket.
Right hand carry tip up. Never any issue

If you carry in your back right pocket tip up and the blade leaning away from the seam.
Just about any blade can open.

The only knife I have had open in my pocket was a ZT350 where I De-assisted it.
Problem. The spring is the detent.
Spring promtly reinstalled.

I agree with you guys that it will never pop open as well as the lock up being rock solid. There is no flaw here. It is just user preference. I added a little extra spring to it. And it just locks up a little bit harder so it will not release as easily and it snaps shut harder. Not needed. I just prefer it. That said my wifes light weight had a slightly stronger spring than my XL. So that is also why I did it. It is simply an option, just not at all needed.

Thanks for the tip Matt! Really appreciate it. I'll have to give it a try later today.

Yeah it's more a personal preference. I carry it tip up right hand pocket against the seam, so definitely no worry about it coming open in my pocket. But like with a flipper, I like the detent on my knives to be a bit stronger so you "pre-load" tension against the detent and then once you overcome the detent it flies open faster. With a weaker detent, I have to think about it more and sometimes it doesn't pop open 100% every time. But like I said, personal preference. :)

Thanks again for the tip Matt. I'll let ya'll know how it works out.
