Since I have a couple of expensive NIB balis coming in I thought I'd check with you guys and gals for tips on how to keep a balisong in good shape. All knives I buy are users, but, naturally, I want them to last as long as possible. There was a discussion about lubricating recently where some of you recommended miltech. At the moment I'm using White Lightning, but I have only just started using it.

I'm wondering if there are any treatments for the blade and handles that you reccomend - i dunno - like wiping with tuf-cloth or something.

What would I do without you?

Ha det bäst!

A little patch of tape on the back of the opposite handle where the latch hits it goes a long way toward preservation, and it doesn't interfer with manipulation or use at all. If your new balisongs don't don't have a latchgate feature, then wrapping a few layers of tape on the latch itself is also a good idea.

has some pictures so you can see what we're talking about here.

Tuff Cloth is great for blades and stainless steel handles. It is not necessary on Ti.

White Lightening is better than most, but Militec-1 is the best, IMHO. Just a few drops is all you need.
