How to keep your gas tank sealer good for long periods of time?

I've been using POR-15 gas tank sealer for protecting the tanks of the Dietz lanterns from rusting out, and it works wonders. But I've wound up wasting two small cans of the stuff because they don't reseal properly like cans of polyurethane, wood stain or even paint, and it winds up separating, getting chunky, or otherwise turning solid.

Does anyone know if there's a better way of keeping this stuff good after the seal has been broken, so it can be used at some point later on down the line?
