Fill it up with announcements and sticky threads.

Sort of a bit strange to have to scroll through so much before you get to the roots of your click. This may be the day of the MONSTER monitor but its also the day of the mobile device. If you are so focused on creating sub-forums then how about some store room house cleaning, otherwise this site becomes a site for moderators.

We might be able to help with a specific complaint. Are you referring to BF generally or one or more of the subforums?

Its just something that becomes more obvious over time as a general observation. When designing a website accessability comes into play and the KISS, WYSIWYG and USER FRIENDLY principles are forefront on my mind ... just like designing a knife.
This issue brings a new meaning to ... "can't see the forest through the trees".

This is all constructive from me.

Anything specific or is this going to turn into a general purpose "I'm not happy" thread? We value constructive criticism, so please give us a specific area you think needs improvement.

I'm done with the "i'm not happy thread", I said my bit and moved on (even if it did have a delay), please dont make me out to be a whinger ... I had good reason for a justified complaint earlier... this is a different thread.

To be specific I am referring to The W&SS forum which my bookmarked page for this site.

1. Bladeforums as you see it was not designed as much as it was grown. We have added forums and stickies in response to user requests. That's about as user friendly as we can get.

2. W&SS in particular had a long list of stickies. I personally consolidated many of them and set up other user-requested stickies to make the forum more flexible.

3. Complaining is OK. Complaints are what generated the recent new subforums. Just keep in mind that no one can satisfy everyone. Some people feel stickies are in the way. Others constantly ask us to stickie this and stickie that.

We are open to discussion -- of specifics.

Esav,
Thankyou.
I noticed that sticky threads took up the start threads in several sub forums.
I'm not looking for perfection, just giving constructive feedback in the most appropriate place. Perhaps a more condensed "announcement" and "sticky" might allow the message board to run more like it was originally intended.
I understand vBulliten is limited to its generic design.

Stabman,
Locating the first active non-sticky thread is not always so easy. With the attitude of "just scroll down" ... is a reason why google is just soo good.

I guess.
I just find I scroll right past the "stickies" automatically, especially in a forum I frequent.:)
Of course that CAN lead to missing new rules at times...:D

Stabman,
Being a website designer I spend a lot of time on the internet waiting for pages to download, scrolling through superfluous content and designing sites to give you what you are looking for without having to scroll through the rest.
There ar lots of informative sites that I visit where I have to "just scroll down" and I just do it ... this site is a interest/hobby detachment and I'm just giving constructive feedback for the powers that be. ;)
