How to line the sub hilt back up.

Alright I have a big subhilt but loosened it to get some frog lube down in there and make it a lighter flick. Now all of a sudden my panels don't feel flush. Is there any trick to make it all flush again? I don't know how to explain it if you don't have the knife itself, but there's like scale inserts that are the exact same height as the rest of the scale so when bought new it seems like the inserts and scale are a single piece.
