How to make those easy open notches?

I've got a Buck 373 that I would like to put one of those easy to open notches in it, to make accessing the nail nicks easier. It's got bone scales and steel liners.

How should I go about doing something like this ?im thinking of using a dremel tool or a hand drill, with a cylindrical grinding wheel. But I'm not sure how to handle 2 different materials (bone/metal)

I use a Dremel with course sanding drums and it cuts thru the bone and steel easily. You will have to change out a few to get it roughed out and then switch to 120 grit for finishing. A grinding wheel will generate too much heat and will burn the bone. The ideal way is an oscillating spindle sander if you have access to one. Best of luck.
