my skyline damascus is on its way. i have Renaissance wax at home that i used to put on my set of wooden instruments. i'm going to use it on the blade since that wax i'm told is food safe.

now my question is, do i have to completely disassemble the knife to put the wax on the whole blade part? or do i just wax the part that is visible to the eyes. i think it would be better to take the whole thing apart and wax all the metal parts, but i never had to do anything like this to a knife before. all my current knives are stainless steel.

...go to any local drugstore, purchase a small bottle of Mineral Oil (it is food safe). Doesn't take much, just a drop in the pivot area and very light coat on the blade itself every so often. No need to completely disassemble the knife.

Have you smelled Ren wax? I wouldn't want it in my food. Like Blueskat suggested...a drop or two of mineral oil. Try to wipe all the mineral oil off with clean towel...you won't get it all off but you'll have a nice thin layer of protection
