How to open waved emersons if they're not clipped to your pants?

I didn't plan to clip the knife to my pant pocket so I was wondering what the opening method for emersons would be if I didn't plan to have it clipped? thanks.

To wave it, you'd still need to catch the hook onto the corner of your pants. Without it already being in place like when it's clipped, it would defeat the purpose of the wave since it would lengthen your deployment time. Other than that, you'd use the opening disc/holes with your thumb like other one-hand openers.

Well, I believe Emerson sells holsters for the waved emersons. You could literally use the wave on your assailant to open the blade by catching it on their clothing, but that's an extra step. I can't imagine a better way to draw the knife than from the pocket.

Depends on how you're carrying your Emerson. If you're just carrying it in your pocket but without the clip, you *can* catch the wave on your pocket, but you've got the additional issue of making sure it's in the right orientation first.

Short of that, get some kind of holster for it.
