Thanks Mark "knifeleather" !!! Perfect !!! :)

GEC doesn't have a pocket sheath for their FBs but at 7 1/4" I felt I could (left) pocket carry the H73. It sure is a lot more comfortable (for me) and certainly less conspicuous than on the belt :)

Anyone else pocket carry a traditional FB?

I have really been digging the Bark River City Knife lately, I pocket carry in a KSF sheath. It works but is a little clumsy, I need to have a custom made, probably with a pocket clip. This is one of mine:

I would love to pocket carry a fixed blade, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it comfortably. You carry that in your front left pocket? Is it the only thing in that pocket? When you pull out the knife does the sheath come with it? I would definitely like to carry a fixed blade in my pocket, but every time I consider it I think that it would be uncomfortable and a hassle to constantly be dealing with the sheath. I'm very interested to hear how it works out for you.

Wish I could carry a small fixed blade, but unfortunately where I am all fixed blades are considered illegal weapons in concealed.

Cory, it is the only thing in my left pocket. The sheath comes out of my pocket with the knife, but I'm SURE I could find a way to draw the knife while the sheath remained pocketed. Just a matter of technique. This sheath is very well made and the fit is good and tight, so it MIGHT take some break-in time too. For me, the sheath is no hassle to deal with. THE HASSLE (for left handed me) is wearing a FB on the belt in a sheath that is too often the only factory sheath available ... and it's for a right handed person.

I also pocket carry a Becker Necker BK11 and D'Eskabar BK24 in my EDC rotation.
This GEC H20 with this custom hand-made pocket sheath is the same over-all length and width as a sheathed BK24. The BK 11 is the slightly shorter of the three. All three ride my pocket nicely :)

Yep. My favorite is in a coat pocket, but I'll sometimes carry in a pants from pocket, or side pocket.

Thanks for the response, Jim. This thread is no good. I can't imagine that I'm going to go through the life of this thread without losing some money on it's account. :grumpy: ;)

Very nice rig, if that's your gig, but . . . .

I carry a pocket knife (or two!) in my pocket, seems like that's what they are made for.

Thanks Jeff. I too have a couple of pocket knives.
I'm definitely not a one gig pony and this isn't my first rodeo :D ;)

Thanks Cate !!!
Both sheaths are very well made and quite substantial. The belt sheath weighs 111 grams and the pocket sheath weighs 59 grams. But it seems so much lighter on my person when pocketed. Not only is the sheath a bit less weight but I feel like the weight is more evenly distributed when pocketed. Either way belt or pocket, I still know it's there and the choice really comes down to a matter of preference or circumstance.

I much prefer to pocket carry the Becker's (BK11 and BK24), shown here with the GEC H73 for size comparison, than neck or belt.
The H73 rig is about one ounce heavier than the BK24 as shown.

Great stuff Jim, that's given me my first good laugh of the day! :D

Great-looking knife and sheath, and an interesting thread. I'm also interested to know how these pocket sheaths work for you guys

I may have to give the KSF pocket sheath a try. Been eying it for a while. I have a small Bark River Little Creek. The sheath it came with isn't the best, but it's somewhat functional. I wear carpenter style jeans a lot and when I do, I slip the FB with standard sheath into the long side leg pocket and it fits there quite nicely. On the belt, it doesn't attract much attention anyways because of the small size, so I haven't been too concerned about it. My larger FB's just ride on the belt regardless when I carry them.
