How to post large (non-thumbnail) photos?

You guys have been so great, and patient, at solving my previous photo questions, I have one more that I hope is not too challenging.

When I post photos from my computer to a post or thread, they always display as thumbnail. I would like to post larger format photos, like everyone else seems to do. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance, Locutus.

Set up a photobucket account. Upload pics there, go over the image with your mouse, a menu will pop up. Click on the last option (image code?), it will say copied. Go to the thread you want to post in and paste the image. Should be full sized:thumbup:

If you'd like larger photos you need to use a photo hosting site. Photo bucket is what I use and it's very easy but there are plenty of other sites as well.

My photos are on hosting site Picasa, which is a google owned site. It has various options like sharing or e-mailing the photos, but no option I can find that will enable me to drag them to a thread or even post to a thread. Anyone familiar with this hosting site?

PS: I'll try to drag or otherwise fiddle with their options.

Need Help again. I gave up on Picasa - way to hard to figure out - and opened an account in Photobucket as Locutus49 (don't ask!).

I created an album called Knives and put my knife photos there. Above RiverRat84 instructions say to put your cursor over an image and options will appear, but that is not happening. There is a Settings icon (the gear wheel) in the top right corner of some of my photos. It has option choices, such as move media, but I don't know which one to choose.

I've tried Move Media, Copy Media, etc. but they all allow you to move photos to another album within Photobucket. I can't find an option to export the photo to another site.

Could someone with Photobucket please walk me through this. Would really appreciate it. Locutus.

PS; I'M USING AN APPLE LAPTOP.

Your page should look something like this. What you want to do is copy the IMG link and then just paste it into the text here

There is no way I get the info you show on your knapsack - I've clicked on the images, and tried all of the settings. On the right side of the page I get this:

Links
Email & IM
HTML code
Slideshow link
Info
knife collection

Your Library / knives
knives

But nothing pops up when I click on an image. My page is public, could you visit it and see what I mean. Locutus49 is my name there.

Here's what I see when I click on your recent uploads

Then if I click on the photos this is what I see

Maybe it's a browser issue on your end?

Sorry for the double post. I'm really frazzled over this. Bottom line: my page looks similar to yours but I get no such info when I click on or pass over an image.

Sorry, our posts crossed. I do not see that info over the knife image. How did you get it? This must pertain to my using an Apple. All I can think of.

I'll try to enter Photobucket using Firefox instead of Safari.

Must be an Apple software issue. I tried 3 different browsers with no success. But Apple users use Photobucket all the time. I cannot believe I have no way of posting full size photos!!! Incredible.

Thanks so much rycen for your help. It was beyond expectations. I guess I'll settle for thumbnails. If you happen to run into an Apple user, could you ask them if they've had such problems. Thanks again. Sigh. Locutus.

I don't know if it's quite the same but if you notice in the pictures I posted I am using an iPad so it might have the same browser. Strange

Once ya post on a picture hostin' site, click on the pic so it's open and copy the http address, it'll look something like this: http://photos.imageevent.com/glennde/ebayphotos/websize/k3campc.jpg then paste it into the brackets below in between the two words

When you're done it'll look like this:

k3campc.jpg

To read the code, click on reply with quote and you'll see how it's written out.

Hope this helps.

BTW ya could always click on the picture icon on the tool bar, (looks like a picture frame with a tree in it) then click on the url tag, uncheck the retrieve remote file and reference locally box that should do it.

Here's a question, when you upload pictures in photobucket, what size are you saving the pic? If you are trying to save it as "actual size", photobucket will automatically adjust the picture size to small. This is because photobucket has a per-picture (the free version at least) size limit, which is substantially smaller than most digital photos (1MB+).

Try this, the next time you upload and save a pic, try saving it as a Medium picture or maybe large. Try that and see what happens.

I think they have changed this setting?
They allow larger photo now? - I think?
But Bladeforums has a size limit.... right? It will change a photo here automatically?
Right?

Locutus, try clicking on one of your pictures. That should bring up a page with a reduced size picture and a menu called "Links" on the right side of the page. The code options you need are there. If you don't see them, you may have to click on the the little arrow next to the title to make them appear.

Problem solved. Thanks to all, and my computer genius wife, who is ready to slip her throat with one of my knives - that is how hard is was even for her. But all of your advice was what did it. Thanks.
