Greetings. First time on this subforum, I think. Title says all. Haven’t had this issue yet, but how do you prevent molds and other nasty things from forming on leather sheaths? Thank you for your time, fellas.

I don't recall ever having mold form on leather treated with saddle soap, neatsfoot oil, shoe wax, or some meltonian leather balm I've had for decades.
That's about all the leather treatments I have any experience with, I'm sure there's many others that work as well.

Thanks man.

In my experience the mold starts to grow when a foreign biological something is splashed onto the leather. Keep the sheath clean.

Biggest thing is if it forms don’t try to wipe it off. This just spreads it like planting a field. Kill it first.

Keep the leather dry. I use SnowSeal on all my leather sheathes so even if they do get wet no moisture is absorbed.
