I took apart my Kershaw Leek to clean it out. This is the first time taking a knife apart. Putting it back together is more difficult than I though. I assumed the screws which go through the back spine could just be tightened down to a resonable point. However, if they are too tight the speed assist will not work properly.

How do you determine how tight each screw should be. I know the pivot screw can't be tightened down all the way, and that makes sense. But I am confused about the rest.

I didn't know the grip screws would affect the auto-assist opening feature. I've taken apart several Kershaws with AO and haven't had this problem. Are you sure there isn't something else going on?

I generally just get them snug. Tighten until they are as tight as they will go with normal pressure, and then just snug them up a bit. I also use blue Loc-tite so they don't loosen over time.
