How to put grip/texture on wood/micarta?

I am putting a new set of handles on my endura and I need to know how to put grip into the material.
Unfortunately I screwed up a set of nice stabilized burly maple (i think) by grinding the wrong side so I will probably use some orange G-10 or some micarta but maybe make a try with the wood again
So anywho I am going to stick with the thinner shape of the endura handles rather than all sorts of curves. Problem is that this will leave a large flat space and not much in the way of grip. I dont have a lathe to put in a nice diamond texture though. I dont want to attempt it with a hacksaw because hard to get parallel and evenly spaced lines. Dont know if there is a tool for this....
If nothing else I thought I would just use a rough sandpaper on one of those vibrating finishing sanders to give it an even texture, but probably wouldnt add much grip.

Thanks for the help.

Rough sandpaper on coarse micarta leaves a good texture.

I like the look of smooth finishes on G10 and hardwood. You can compromise by adding large scale texture with files. I did this on a ZT0350 and it feels very good.

You may want to look into wood checkering gunsmithing tools. Try Midway USA or Brownells.

I like my handles smooth too, though.

I would use a 1/16" round burr in a dremel (or turbo carver) and do very small figure eights. Practise on scrap always.
