How to re-center a Buck Vantage?

Hi,
I picked up a Buck Vantage recently, and noticed the blade was off center. I knew this was a potential issue going in, and I checked the knife at the store, but it seems it's gotten a bit worse. It's not rubbing the liner, so I'm hopeful there's an easy DIY fix for it. I know I can send it into Buck for good service, but to be honest, I don't want to wait that long. Anyone have any suggestions?

When you tighten up the pivot the blade is centered. Just tighten the pivot appropriately so it is centered to your liking but not super stiff.

You can loosen all the screws a couple turns and then tighten them back up in different orders. If this doesn't help then combine that with pushing the blade both in the direction it needs to go and also try pushing it in the direction that it is off. Usually some combination of that will get the blade centered with a correctly adjusted pivot screw.

Before you start loosening some of the small screws you might want to put a drop of light oil on the night before so it can work its way into the threads some and soften up any thread locker. That or you can use a soldering iron and hold the iron to the screw head for a minute to get it hot which will soften thread locker. There is nothing more depressing than trying to do some work and stripping out a Torx screw. Also, make sure you are using the right size bit and make sure you are pushing the bit into the screw head hard while unscrewing.

You should be able to get it with a little work unless the blade is bent. That isn't real easy to overcome but doesn't happen often. Good luck!

Because the liner lock always pushes on the blade, I feel like it's pretty unrealistic to think it would ever be perfectly centered.

There are tons of liner and frame locks that press against the blade and yet are perfectly centered. It can be done with a little bit of work and a touch of luck.
