I finally got my etch process down. My mark looked so good but I noticed some surface scratches I am going to have to remove. When I started I removed a little of the black within the mark.

Is there a special pen I can use to fill it in?

If you still have the stencil that made the original etch, and if you can get it aligned, you can remark the old etch using the etching system. Realigning a stencil takes patience and a steady hand. I use a piece of masking tape or painted tape along one edge to secure the stencil in place. Then lifting the free edge of the stencil up and down you can visually check the alignment and readjust the tape.
You might want to practice this on a piece of Scrap first.

Realigning the stencil will work best, if it's off it drakens the flat steel and can be sanded away somewhat easy. Get it lined up - test darken - and adjust if needed but take all the time in the world on the first align - you're going to save yourself the most time and frustration in this step.

Tips for aligning the stencil:
1. Tons of light.
2. Focus on matching one letter / area in both axis, and adjust it on a pivot for the rest (work's best for me, but idk).

If it's carbon steel - you can blacken it with brass black.

Cheers :)

I did this just the other day. I just re darkened the area without a stencil. Once dark I used a firm sanding block and removed the over etch. Mind you it was easy as I do all my etching prior to mounting handles so it didn't mess up the sanding lines.
