How to remove a small bend in a blade?

Hello, BladeSmiths;

I'm making a skinner out of 15n20. I'm getting ready to heat treat it, but there's a small bend in it, which I hadn't noticed in the steel before I started it. What is a good way to take that out? I don't have an anvil.

Thanks,

Sprayman

Bend it the other way....

You don't need an anvil. You should be able to straighten it by hand, or just lay it on any hard, flat surface and give it a few sharp wacks with a dead-blow mallet. It usually doesn't take much.

if you do not have a dead blow mallet just put it on the bench with the peak of the bend facing up, put a piece of wood over the peak and hit with a hammer, lightly at first.

I heat treat a lot of 15n20 and I don’t worry about bends in blades befor heat treat. Heat treat the blade and after quenching clamp it straight using a steel bar and c clamps and temper it while it’s clamped.
