There is this Boker from an old thread titled "help me choose". The cleaning staff threw it in a bucket with a bunch of other items. It was retrieved with the bolsters lightly scratched all over. I think they are nickle silver. Is there any way I can get the scratches off by hand or with a Dremel? I know of a number of metal polishes but not sure if I should use them on this.

Thanks

You have to take the surface of the bolsters down below the depth of the scratches.
This can be done with fine wet/dry sandpaper and finished by hand buffing with Simichrome, Flitz, etc.
They can also be polished out by polishing on a buffer-depending on the depth of the scratches.

Pretty much this and this only. Depends on whether the OP wants to spend a little time with some sandpaper and/or a buffer.

Can I put the Dremel in the stand with Simichrome on the felt wheel to make it go faster or will I go through it? Also, this part is very important: How do I protect the Micarta while I am doing this? I really appreciate your help guys. I am sorry I do not know this. I mean I know how to polish metal but not that delicate and with the Micarta right next to it. Otherwise I will just do it by hand but I need to protect the Micarta still. I think masking tape might slip off while I am using the sandpaper. If I use sandpaper would you go 2,000 Grit or less? I just don't want to make it worse than it is. I am going to go nuts on these people for doing this. I can't report it to insurance because it is not an actual loss. The knife still works fine. I am willing to work on it though. Luckily they are very fine scratches. I cannot feel them with my finger nails. I bet they cleaned it with Ajax or something and I just do not see it on the Yellow Micarta. I value your advice bill since you are a knifemaker. You too bodog.

Thanks Guy's

Start by using the fine polish. If it doesn't remove the scratches, try very fine grit sandpaper, then the polish.
I would leave the Dremel alone, and just buff by hand.

Flitz did a great job by itself! Thanks guy's. I bet those idiots used Ajax or something on it.
