Any ways to remove dried tung oil residue from a knife blade that erroneously got on it during the treatment of the handle wood? I have been able to buff most of it off from the area I can get to without coming into contact with actual wood with the buffing wheel on dremel tool. Would paint thinner work to get the little bit still left by where handle taper meets blade? And yes, I know now and lesson learned, make sure blade is completely covered going forward before applying tung oil, but with this particular knife I would love to be able to remove it without damaging finish already built up on wood or should I say avoiding going back and redoing handle altogether. Thanks!!!!!

I have been able to just scrape it off with a plastic scraper. The one I used was a cheap yellow thing from Home Depot. I have also used a QTip with rubbing alcohol with some success.

I don't know if I'm envisioning this correctly, but I would tape off the handle section with blue 3M tape and use 0000 steel wool.

I would try acetone and perhaps a brass scraper. It can't be harder to get off than epoxy...
