I just bought the lawman and actually dig it but the coating blows.....can some one help me and tell me the best way to remove it.....please please please help

do a search... several methods...

I did it with sandpaper, and had it stonewashed. The easiest way is with Bix and a little elbow grease...

Grab a cheap softer blade knife and pretend the Cold Steel blade is a scratch and win lotto ticket!

That black coating comes off pretty easy. This is what it looked like after about 10 minutes of cutting sod:

I just don't want to ruin the original blade by scrayching it to much I've been using it and it's has come off pretty good on the tip and I like the original look......i like the suggestion keepem coming....thanks again

all I have to say is wooooow....thank you STR I just finished the blade and this thing looks sweet grab an old mora and did like you said scratch like it was a scratch ticket and it worked flawlessly and only took like 15 mins......thanks again

I did mine the other day and it was effortless with a metal rule used like a cabinet scraper.

The surprising thing was the blade has a subtle stone wash finish under the teflon. I also scraped the lock bar and I'm very pleased with how it all turned out.

Keep in mind that the rocker arm also referred to as the lock bar, is usually going to be between 45 and 50 Rockwell compared to the blade that will hover around 56-58 RC on most. So you might want to begin on that part in a spot not easily seen to find out if it scratches or not. The rocker arm is tougher at that hardness. Some appear to be pretty hard. I think you'll see some variance there but thats just based on the ones I've worked on over many years. Not sure what these new ones will be like because I've only owned five or six and have only stripped the black off of one of those.
