How to remove the handle slabs

How does one go about removing the alloy fasteners on a Busse to get the handles off? How about putting them back on? Thanks a lot!

Yeah, someone tried to drill out the tube fastener without clamping down the knife. It spun around and slashed him quite badly.

Let's be careful out there. (OK, who remembers that?)

Here is an old thread on how I do it, I see a few pictures got dropped off, but the replacement rivet part is there. As far as drilling out the old ones go, just use a 1/4" drill and center it in the hollow rivet and go slow until the head comes off, then tap the remaining piece it out the other side.
