I went to Fiesta Texas today and was on the bridge to the ride "Power Surge", a water ride that splashes people ON the bridge if you stay there. Well, knowing me, I stayed for about 9 splashes. I was soaked, and my cell phone got a little water in it. Well now it doesn't work:o . Any advice? Should I take it apart and dry it with a blowdryer or is it totaly ruined? Thanks in advance.

Open the phone up as much as possible and then put it under a 75 watt bulb. This will dry it out rather well with no damage to the circuit board. Neither will it damage the screen, though I would keep the screen pointed away as it will be black for a while from the photo-sensitivity.

I think Bandit's idea was a lot better than mine. I was going to suggest the microwave oven.

Good luck.

I had a cheap digital watch that got soaked- just put it on a window ledge for a week or so, and it started working again. As long as it's just water, it should evaporate eventually.

Similar experience here when the kids on the baseball team I coach decided to dump the water jug over my head after a game. I saw them at the last second and turned, which resulted in everything on my right side getting soaked including the cell phone on my belt. I took the battery out of my phone and set it and the phone on edge to allow any water to drain out and just let it air dry for a day or so. I had no problems with mine after that.

If you have a gas oven handy, put it in the oven overnight with just the pilot light on. PLEASE make sure to stick a BIG note on the oven door though!!!!:D

I politely disagree. If the thing is still working, then the only real problem is corrosion over the long haul.

As a biker, I've been drenched countless times; clothes leak, saddle-bags don't seal well, and cameras and radios get wet. We'd shake them out, maybe dry them in the sun.

However, those teeny-tiny spaces might cause trouble. I use electrical contact cleaner--the stuff with the environment friendly recipe. It displaces water quickly, and the smell will disepate.

Right off hand, I cannot think of a camera, either mine or a buddy's, that crapped after a spray of cleaner.
