I'm considering reshaping an ESEE 6 handle to better match the ergos of the Rat handles (concave curve on backside). This means I would have to remove some material from the ESEE tang. Doable? Anybody done it?

I have a bench grinder and handheld grinders (although no polishing wheels) for the heavy removal.

Why? I prefer the ESEE sheath with belt clip. Not sure the extra cost for this to get one made for the Ratmandu but the proce difference alone for the sheath is making me considering the ESEE.

I'm only used to grinding mild steel. Will my bench grinder suffice to remove material from the tang?

Yes, it should remove steel from the tang. BUT! Be vary careful that you don't over heat the metal. Go slowly and dip the work piece in water to cool it.
