How to restore proctective coating?

When I was first learning how to use sharpening stones, I did a crap job on my BG Ultimate Pro, (thankfully it's near impossible to change it's edge anyways), sharpened it too close to the stone, ruining the proctective coating. I was wondering if there was any way to restore the protective coating, since it's asthetically displeasing.
I'd upload a picture, but it's entirely inconvenient.
