How to rework this tip?

I'm getting tired of the way the tip on my Kulgera is. It doesn't really limit the functionality all that much, but it does make poking through things a little bit difficult. This is what the Kulgera's tip is supposed to look like...

Now I know why you don't have the funds to buy more stones.... you keep buying kulgeras lol.

You might not like the answer to this but..... you will need to flat grind the edge running just shy of the tip until the curve of the edge is straightened out. You can then regrind the bevel and sharpen as normal. Yep, this means grinding the edge directly into the stone to re-set the curve and no its not fun.

Haha, I wish all those were mine. I was just trying to find some examples, plus I kind of have an obsession with Kulgears. lol Sucks they're discontinued now.

I had thought that might be what I had to do, but I wasn't sure I even wanted to attempt it. I've reworked tips in the past in similar ways and it's a real pain. Might be more comfortable doing it with a file, but do you think a file would work okay on this particular steel/hardness? I think Benchmade runs its S30V at 59-60, so I don't know how file would do.

Hmm... I might just go ahead and get it reground by someone else. I'm open to suggestions...

I'm guessing you have never tried a file on S30V? Ever wear out a file? lol. Your 220 stone would be faster.

My email is a click away.....

Heh, yeah, I thought that might be the case. I once put a little needle file on the spine a little just to see and it seemed like it would go nowhere.

Also, sent you an email

That's also how I redid some of tips that got bent due to being dropped on the floor!

Ground it down as suggested, then re sharpen it...
