how to rig a trap?

To tell you the truth the hole thing

Where it says "very little pressure at this point" is actually a "V" shape if that helps (hard to tell in the pic)...Best way to figure it out is try and build it.

Well, your engine is going to be a sapling or some other such apperatus that can store energy. Just bend it over enough that it'll give you spring tension and distance from the ground to keep your critter up so it can't walk away.

Other end is a fixed point on the ground, base of another sapling works well.

Your large split ring is on a loop connected to your stationary sapling and the smaller split ring is on a loop connected to your bent over sapling.

You pass your smaller split ring through the larger one and your trigger is split to allow it to hold your smaller split ring onto its cord.

that other split ring thats in the loose tail of the engine line is connected to a snare line, typiclly made of thin guage metal that loops around the trigger and goes to the ground, making a slightly elevated loop in the path of your pray critter.

Once the critter passes part way through the loop and trips the snare line, the snare line tugs the trigger, dislodging the trigger from the smaller split ring allowing it to pass through the larger split ring and launching your critter into the air hanging by a noose waiting for you to cook and eat it.

It's complicated to describe, but simple in practice. Once you get it, it's a very simple, almost foolproof trigger system.
