How to safely loosen a tight BM clip?

I bought an 812S Mini-AFCK, and everything is perfect, except the pocket clip grips too tight. It takes effort to put it on the pocket, and undue effort to pull it off. I know some people like a tighter grip, but this is way too tight.

Is there a way to loosen its grip without weakening the clip, or risk snapping it? I was wondering if loosening the clip screws, re-applying Loctite, and tightening them to a lesser degree would make a difference or not. Or do the clip screws always have to be tightened completely down to hold properly?

BTW, I have the BM Torx kit and adjusting the pivot is never a problem.

I have a 710 with the opposite problem. If I had the screw bit I would just take the clip off and give it a slight bend in the right direction. Most clips are spring tempered so that they can flex a lot before taking a permanent bend, so you have to flex it a bit more than you actually want it to go. I would not just loosen the screws and aply lok tight since that will just give you a wobbly clip.

i make all of my clips out of ti and they are always very snug....i take a piece of plastic tie off material...anything will work...and put it under the end of the clip and gently pull up until it has the tension i like...usually i get it so it is just barely touching the knife handle and that way it slips on and off easily.

I have adjusted the clip tension on several knives by removing the clip and bending it ever so slightly. Put the screw end of the clip in a vise or heavy pliers and flex the clip in the direction you want.

You do not need to bend it very much, just a little and try it on the knife. Take it back off and bend a little more if necessary.

I too would remove it and bend it back a little bit.

Removal and adustment by slight bending is definately the way. I say 'slight' not because the clip will snap, but because it doesn't take much actual deformation to affect the clip tension pretty significantly.

You need a #6 torx driver (Sears was the only place near me that carried them that small).

FWIW My 710 came with the older micro-small torx screws holding the clip. i took someones advice and found the appropriate size allen wrench to fit the center and it worked great.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!
I will try removing it and slightly bending the clip at the screw end. Valuable info.
