This seems like a reall awesome site for knives and I think this is the best place for me to sell. I looked at the knife selling rules and I still have a couple of questions. My husband of 30 years died 4 years ago and I’ve been dragging my feet about selling his knife collection. He has some pretty high falutin knives. At least one Marfione, a bunch of microtech. On and on. The forum rules advised against selling on PP. So what is the best way to ask for funds? I know I have to upgrade my registration. I thought I had other questions but I guess that’s it for now. Thank you so much for your help!!

I'm sorry for your loss.

You have the right membership level already (Gold). BF doesn't recommend against PayPal, just against requesting payments via friends and family rather than for goods and services.

If you want to request valuations for specific items, you've got the right membership level for that as well. Provide pics and folks will be happy to help.

I'd recommend not trying to list everything at once. Treat it like a marathon, not a sprint, and use what you learn from early sales to inform your later listings.

Good luck!

The forum rules DO NOT advise against selling using Pay Pal but rather advise against using PP Gift, aka, Friends & Family as this denies you and the buyer any protection or recourse if you get scammed. You are encouraged to follow the PP rules and use Goods & Service for selling. Lots of grumbling theses days about using PP G&S because of some tax reporting rules. That's another issue.

Thank you so much! Is there a specific forum for getting evaluations? Most of the knives I have have markings that make identification fairly easy. But this fixed blade denascus knife has no name. Just an elk and 1 of 50 marking

Broadly, it depends on the style of the knife. Take a look at the guidelines for the Traditional subforum; that's a good spot for IDing the knife you posted here.

There's also Bernard Levine's subforum for IDing knives, which has its own guidelines.

You can ask to be paid however you like. It is your choice. PP F&F is discourage, but not forbidden. You should acquaint yourself with the tax consequences. With PP G&S you will get a 1099-k if you sell more than $600. This may require you to file and have some paperwork to avoid paying more than necessary.
Good luck on your sales
