Hey guys I have a totally thrashed mini grip I got from a friend in a trade and on the Benchmade warranty form they ask where and when the knife was purchased and I have got no idea when that was. So my question is how do I send it in? Thanks in advance! TFS

You don't really need to fill out the warranty card. I haven't filled one out since 2008/09 and have never had a problem getting a knife serviced under warranty.

Just fill out the Warranty Service Form:
http://www.benchmade.com/images/pdf/Warranty_Service_Letter.pdf

or Life Sharp Form:
http://www.benchmade.com/images/pdf/Lifesharp_Service_Letter.pdf

and include with your knife.

If you're still not sure or hesitant, or have additional questions just give customer service a call at 1-800-800-7427. They always answer the phone and will take good care of you.

If you don't have a receipt and it was a gift just say so. Like I said, I'm sure they will take care of you.

Hope this helps!

Is the knife damaged and needs a repair or do you want the Life Sharp service? I have sent a bunch of knifes in for Life Sharp and I don't recall having to supply that info on their form. Maybe ask your friend if he knows the back story on your Mini Grip.
As long as it is a genuine BM I don't think they will care whether you know or not, in fact state it was a gift. Someone else purchased the knife and gave it to you.

Agree 100% with all posts above.

No card? No receipt? No problem.

When in doubt, just call them.

I've sent in knives for service / repair under warranty and Life Sharp and never has the issue of a receipt, proof of ownership or if I filled out a warranty card ever come up.

I sent in my 17 year old AFCK because the back spacer cracked and they replaced it with barrel spacers. No questions asked other then if it was ok to use the standoffs because they no longer had any original back spacers left for that model.

Like I said, call and ask but rest assured they will take care of you. Their customer service is second to none. They look for ways to help you, not ways to not help you like some companies.

All the best!

Hi, no card, no problem, one of the nice people from BM said the rego card was only so the sales dept could collect info and stats on were and how people buy their knives. The warrenty is for the life of the knife, not just the original purchaser.

Hope that helps

Kris,.

When sending your knives in, make sure to leave the original box home. Just wrap them carefully and insure the package. They will, once the knife is ready to return to us owners, pack them in a 'Gray Repair Box', of which I'm sure many of us have in droves. Method of return shipment is usually UPS. And no, I have never registered any of my knives and all have gone up and back without loss.

Long distance might cost a bit from the moon, but you should just call and talk with someone. It's the most direct and common sense thing to do.
